This reading uses the Chrysalis Tarot by Toney Brooks and Holly Sierra.
(Process: I don’t “choose” the cards for these readings, I simply shuffle until I get a “jumper card” – a card that “jumps” out of the deck during the shuffle. I’ve found that this method provides the opportunity for the universe to choose the card(s) without interference from me. If more than 2 cards volunteer, they’re shuffled back into the deck until I get a maximum of 2 for the position I’m drawing for.)
Note: The combined energies and messages of all the cards in the reading are active for the full week, with the energy of the card drawn for specific days being more dominant on those particular days.
This week’s energies have the potential to be explosive, but whether that explosiveness is purely destructive or creates space for us to rebuild something better is entirely up to us. Use the energies to create something new and better for yourself instead of to simply destroy what’s not working and stand in the devastation . . . There has been, and will continue to be, much upheaval in the world as we all deal with the shifts and changes in society. Stand in your power, be an island of calm amidst the chaos, and be an example of how life could be for those who haven’t reached your level of understanding. Look for those who are managing well, who are not sliding into the hate and divisiveness so common in these days, and use them as an example to bring more balance to your life. We are all teachers, but we are all students as well. We can always learn something new, and none of us is perfect.
Monday/Tuesday: The Sun (Empowerment)
How appropriate is this? The day of the total solar eclipse, and The Sun shows up as our card, telling us that we have the power to change our lives. The single tear on his cheek expresses his sorrow at the divisions between us, and our inability to see that we are all, at the deepest level, the same. That sorrow is a small thing, however; compared to his understanding that we all have the ability to become more aware, to grow and expand and love, and the joy that understanding brings.
Wednesday/Thursday: Wheel (Consequence)
Wheel reinforces the message that Father Sun brings us, reminding us that our own choices and decisions have the power to remake our lives. It is also a reminder that decisions have consequences – positive decisions have positive consequences, and negative decisions have negative consequences – and an invitation to reassess whether our lives are truly the outcome of random fate, or the result of many small decisions adding up over time.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday: The Sojourner (Empathetic and Wise)
At the weekend, The Sojourner comes into our lives with his listening ear and kind heart to help us process the revelations of the eclipse and Wheel. Some of the things we’ve learned about ourselves are likely to be uncomfortable, and his non-judgemental attitude reminds us that guilt and self-blame only hold us back. Perhaps he will help us to find acceptance and self-forgiveness for what we see as “mistakes;” perhaps he will help to guide us to a new path; or maybe he is only here to listen and allow us to express our pain in a safe and productive way. No matter what his purpose for appearing in our lives, his presence is always a comfort.
